If the low beam on your VW T-Roc fails, it is usually not a big problem, as in almost all cases the fault is the H7 halogen bulb, which has broken due to wear and tear. This means that you don’t have to go to VW to have your T-Roc inspected, and you can easily do it yourself.
This way, you can minimize the costs as well as the duration of this repair. By following our instructions, you will be able to achieve your goal even without special tools or special knowledge!
However, if you drive a T-Roc with LED headlights, the repair will be complicated and expensive, so in this case we recommend contacting an independent workshop. Information on upgrading the LED headlights of the VW T-Roc can be found in our separate guide.
H7 halogen bulb for replacing the low beam of the T-Roc

There is a huge selection of suitable H7 halogen bulbs for the VW T-Roc. We will show you which we believe are the best light sources in terms of light output and lifespan, and we will also place great emphasis on good value for money.
Instructions: Replacing a light bulb on a VW T-Roc
- Sometimes it can be difficult to identify a low beam that has failed on only one side. Either you regularly check the entire lighting system of your car (this is usually highly recommended), or you notice the fault when a warning light on the dashboard lights up.
- Turn off the ignition, then open the hood of your VW.
- If possible, wear clean work gloves to minimize the risk of injury and to avoid damaging the new H7 bulb. But be careful, when replacing the H7 low beam in the VW T-Roc, it is quite tight. If you have to work without gloves, never touch the glass of the bulb directly, as this can damage it!
- The dipped beam in the T-Roc is located on the very outside of the car, so it is relatively recessed and difficult to access (unlike the main beam, for example). If the headlight is faulty, remove the dust cap and set it aside.
- Now turn the lamp adapter counterclockwise. A click indicates that the adapter can be pulled out. Remember how the adapter was positioned!
- Replace the H7 bulb. To do this, carefully pull out the broken bulb and insert the new one (pay attention to the protrusions on the bulb holder).
- Insert the adapter with the new bulb into the headlight socket without using force. Carefully insert it into the indicated position, trying to avoid hitting anything if possible, and turn it clockwise until it locks into place with an audible click.
- Finally, the dust cap must be properly installed back to prevent moisture from entering the headlight.
- Finally, just in case, check the operation of the dipped beam to avoid unpleasant surprises at night!
Cost and duration of replacement: Replacing a halogen bulb in a VW T-Roc usually takes no more than half an hour – costs around 20-30 euros (depending on the bulb). At a VW workshop, you should expect costs that are around 50% higher.
