Motorway tolls in Ireland
Tolls on the mentioned sections, with the exception of the M50, can be paid by cash and partly by credit card. In addition, it is possible to pay electronically using an on-board device (eToll system with an electronic transmitter), which can be rented from various suppliers.
The electronic toll collection system eToll simplifies the payment process by eliminating the need to stop at toll booths. The “Tag” device, placed in the vehicle, automatically records the passage through the toll booths, which ensures a smoother and faster journey. This allows drivers to take advantage of the convenience of paying for the road without having to use cash or card, which is particularly useful when traveling frequently on Irish motorways.

Dublin Ring Road (M50)
On the M50 it is not possible to pay with cash on the spot. Tolls are collected automatically when entering the motorway through the number plate recognition system (“eFlow”). The toll can be paid in advance or no later than 20 hours after using the road at one of the payment points in the country (shops, gas stations) marked with the “Payzone” logo, by phone with a credit card (Visa. /Mastercard) by phone at 0818 50 10 50 ( from Ireland) or +353 14 61 01 22 (international), online, by registering with an electronic device (“Tag”) or via a registered number plate.
If you are using a rental car, please check before your trip that the M50 toll is included in the rental price.
