The cheapest way to get from Dubrovnik airport to Montenegro.

As in any other city, the cheapest and least comfortable way to get from Dubrovnik to Montenegro is by public transport. The catch is that there are no direct connections between Dubrovnik airport and the cities of Montenegro. You will first need to get to the city center, more precisely to the Dubrovnik bus station, and then buy a ticket to Kotor, Herceg Novi, Budva or another city you need. Flixbus also runs from Dubrovnik to Montenegro, and you can purchase tickets directly on their website or in the app. 

All routes from Dubrovnik to Kotor, Herceg Novi, Podgorica or Budva are direct, so you will not need to change to another bus.

Travel time (not including the time to get from the airport to the bus station) will be approximately 2-4 hours (depending on the station you choose),  if there are no traffic jams at the border. 

Also take this into account if you are traveling back from Montenegro to Dubrovnik airport. It is better to leave early, as crossing the border can take several hours.

The second best way to get from the Croatian airport to Montenegro is to pre-book a transfer from Dubrovnik airport to your desired destination. Ferry from Dubrovnik to Budva, Montenegro.

If you want new experiences and something unusual, you can get from Dubrovnik to Budva by ferry. This route was restored in the summer of 2024, but it will be active only during the high season (from July 1 to August 31). The only nuance is that the ferry is only for passengers, and you cannot drive there with a car. 

We recommend this method of transportation if you need to get there quickly from Dubrovnik. This route helps to “bypass” the long queues at the border, because in the summer season you can stand in traffic for several hours.
