In Hungary,  regional vignettes are available to people driving certain sections of roads in a certain region.  This should be used if you are sure that you will drive on these roads. It is risky for people who do not know the Hungarian road network, and driving outside the region with a purchased vignette can lead to a fine. More information about the roads on which regional vignettes are valid can be found on the website toll-charge.hu

Vignettes are not valid for trucks over 3.5 tons. Then the E-TOLL system is activated. This is the toll road system for trucks in Hungary.

According to current legislation, the electronic sticker must always be exchanged before leaving the toll plaza (practically before the trip). The subsequent purchase of an e-sticker does not provide for the retroactive effect of the right to use the road, according to which the obligation to pay an additional fee arises after using the paid section. The exception is
the 60-minute grace period  , which gives you an exemption from a fine for a sticker purchased within 60 minutes of starting to use the road. It is very important to know that the correct entry of all information on the electronic sticker means compliance: number plate, insignia, collection category and expiration date.
