Vignettes in the Czech Republic

Although  vignettes are mandatory in the Czech Republic  , today, when traveling in this country, there is no need to stick a sticker on the windshield – recently (January 1, 2021), drivers can buy electronic vignettes.

A vignette can be purchased in several ways:

  • online is the most convenient solution when planning a trip to the Czech Republic,
  • in outlets of the Czech Republic,
  • in self-service terminals – they are located in border zones, including at the entrances to toll roads.

The penalty for not having a vignette is a fine of up to 100,000 Czech crowns  . In addition, there are warnings in the media, particularly on government websites, about buying vignettes from unverified sources.

–  If someone buys a motorway vignette outside the official points of sale, there is no guarantee of its price or assistance in solving any complaints or other problems. Therefore, we recommend buying only through official sales channels  , – warns Jan Paroubek, head of the state-owned company CENDIS, the system operator.
