However, before any further trip, especially when you are traveling by car, it is a good idea to prepare and get basic information about the place you are going to, preferably at the planning stage of your holiday. Then you will not be surprised by any unpleasant surprises on the way. From this article, you will learn what to remember when traveling to Lithuania by car.

Toll roads and highways in Lithuania

Throughout the country, regardless of whether you choose expressways or motorways, travel is absolutely free for almost all passenger cars, i.e. up to 8 seats with a driver, and motorcycles. However, all trucks, buses and minibuses with eight or more passenger seats must pay a toll to travel on the A1 to A18. So, if you are traveling on Lithuanian roads in a regular passenger car, you do not have to worry about additional tolls. However, if you have a truck or a large bus, you will have to pay the fees listed below.

The difference with respect to Poland is that although in our country a 9-seater bus is classified as a passenger car, in Lithuania it must have a vignette intended for minibuses that carry 8 to 12 people. Drivers of vehicles and camper vans must also purchase vignettes, even if they do not exceed 3.5 tonnes in gross vehicle weight. For drivers of these vehicles, it is a great convenience to purchase electronic vignettes. You can choose a daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly vignette. If you need to buy a vignette, you can easily choose something for yourself.
