Tolls and vignettes in Belarus

An electronic toll collection system operates in Belarus. Toll roads are marked accordingly.

General information about road tolls in Belarus

In the BelToll system, tolls are collected from drivers of vehicles that meet the following criteria:

  • Motor vehicles with a mechanical drive, the permissible gross weight of which exceeds 3.5 tons;
  • Motor vehicles with a mechanical drive with a permissible gross weight of up to 3.5 tons, registered outside the territory of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. Vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons registered in EU countries (Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia) are exempt from tolls.

Regardless of whether the toll is paid using an on-board device or a purchased electronic vignette, there is no need to slow down or choose a specific lane when passing through the toll booths. The system ensures smooth traffic on multi-lane roads.

Automatic toll calculation is carried out through direct communication between the on-board device and the toll gate. When the vehicle passes through the gate, the system automatically debits the account of the user registered in the system.

For vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons, the system recognizes a valid electronic vignette by comparing the registration numbers with the data provided when purchasing  the vignette  .
